Wild salmon and steelhead are invaluable to our Northwest Tribes, ecosystems, anglers, and fishing guides—but their populations are dwindling.

Now, is the time for Congress to support Congressman Mike Simpson’s innovative plan to restore the region’s abundant salmon runs and modernize access to affordable energy—both of which would create tens of thousands of good jobs.

Dear member of Congress,

I am increasingly concerned about the consistent decline of the Columbia River Basin’s wild salmon. Billions—more than $17 billion!—in taxpayer money has been spent on ineffective plans to assist salmon in navigating around the Snake River dams. Even worse, the recent environmental impact statement designed by the Army Corps of Engineers is wholly inadequate and does not even attempt to restore previously abundant salmon runs. Outdoor recreationists, fragile food webs, and Tribal Nations face the very real possibility that Snake River salmon will go extinct in our lifetime—an economically, ecologically, and culturally disastrous possibility.

Federal government agencies have tried and failed and we need you, as our representative to Congress, to intervene before our wild salmon are gone forever.

Now is the time to lead, act, and invest in Snake River restoration to recover abundant salmon runs. We need Congress to introduce legislation that will revive the Columbia River Basin’s ecosystem.
