The devastation to people and wildlife from Hurricanes Helene and Milton is heartbreaking. Congress cannot afford to wait to act until the timing is convenient for them.

Like countless others, I am heartbroken by the images and stories of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene across the Southeastern United States and Hurricane Milton in Florida. It is urgent for Congress to return to Washington and approve the funding needed for hurricane recovery.  I am counting on you to send more help for hurricane recovery by supporting and voting for full funding for FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund, as well as other federal programs that can help communities rebuild and bolster their resilience to future storms.

The communities impacted by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton deserve a robust Disaster Relief Fund that is able to address the needs of all disaster-impacted communities through the end of the year.  Congress needs to give FEMA and other federal agencies the necessary resources to avoid any delays or possible reprioritizations as the fund is exhausted. Please do not wait to act and support the people and communities who have lost everything.
